Everyone said I should go. Everyone said it was a highlight. Everyone said it was beautiful. ‘You have to go to the Salt Lake’ they said.
The Salt Lake from hell it was.
I spoke to many people about my route to Ankara, and everyone suggested it to me. It was on my way to Ankara, so why not.
I arrive at the edge of the lake just as the sun is setting. The area is quite industrial as they are harvesting the salt from the lake and selling it. I think anyway. So I found a small patch of salty sand, pitched my tent, and settled in for the night.
The sunset was beautiful, the lake was beautiful. Everyone was right. So I went to sleep excited about what the morning had to bring.
During the night, there was a small drizzle of rain, and by small drizzle, I really mean small drizzle of rain. But that was enough to make a heavenly place into a hellish place.
